Ja, de titel zegt het eigenlijk al. Ik heb een aantal weken geleden voor het eerst twee vriendinnen, Iris en Martine, ontmoet die ik ken via Instagram. Hoe leuk is dat?! We hadden afgesproken samen naar de Live Q&A van het boek Babe, you got this te gaan. Het evenement vond plaats in de Bibliotheek van Rotterdam.
Ik vertrok aan het einde van de middag met de trein vanuit Amersfoort naar Rotterdam. Natuurlijk was ik wel een beetje gespannen, want ik wist niet wat ik kon verwachten. Ik had ze al gesproken via Instagram en WhatsApp, maar een echte ontmoeting is toch een beetje anders. We spraken af bij het stadhuis in Rotterdam en vanuit daar liepen we naar THOMS om een hapje te eten.
Dinner time
Toen we bij THOMS aankwamen, bestelden we een drankje en namen we allemaal iets te eten. Iris koos voor een overheerlijke in roomboter gebakken sliptong met peterselie en Martine en ik hebben een Angus Burger met krokante spek, tomaat, augurk, gekarameliseerde ui, oude kaas frites en THOMS kruidenmayo besteld. De hoofdgerechten smaakten echt heerlijk, maar daar was de prijs ook naar. Het is er helaas niet goedkoop en met ons studentenbudget hebben we toch moeten kiezen voor het goedkoopste gerecht.

Nadat we heerlijk hadden gegeten en gedronken, vertrokken we met een volle maag naar de bibliotheek in Rotterdam. Daar stond ons al een heerlijk welkomstdrankje te wachten. Nadat we enkele foto’s hadden laten schieten door de fotografe, konden we zitten in de grote zaal en werden we verwelkomd door de schrijfsters van het boek Babe, you got this: Emilie Sobels en Martje Haverkamp. Voor het boek werden 23 girlbosses geïnterviewd en een aantal hiervan waren uitgenodigd voor de Live Q&A. Zo waren Eve Tomaszewski (oprichter The Goaldiggersclub en freelance redacteur), Suzanne Berings (Manager Operations Support bij Booking.com) en Evelien de Vries (oprichter MDV Distribution en importeur van merken als Beautyblender en Invisibobble) de girlbosses van de avond. Tijdens de avond stelden Emilie en Martje allerlei vragen aan deze girlbosses over verschillende onderwerpen, zoals social media, doelen bereiken, werk/privébalans en ondernemen. Wat ik ook erg tof vond, was dat deze girlbosses ook verschillende vragen vanuit het publiek kregen gesteld.
Goodiebag
Natuurlijk gingen we aan het einde van de avond niet met lege handen naar huis, want we kregen een goodiebag met lekkere popcorn van PROPERCORN, een leuk kaartje van Hashtag Workmode en een fashionable zeemeerminpinnetje van The Sassy Girl.
Mijn ervaring
Ik vond het een hele inspirerende avond en heb er zeker van geleerd. Ik weet nu veel meer over deze vrouwen en hoe ik sommige onderwerpen het beste aan kan pakken. Ik heb er al eens eerder over geschreven in een blog over het boek zelf, maar soms vind ik het lastig om een goede balans te vinden tussen werk en privé. Gelukkig is op deze avond voor mij duidelijk geworden hoe ik hier een perfecte balans in kan vinden en hoe ik mijn dromen kan waarmaken. Aan het einde van de avond heb ik ook zelf nog even met Martje en Emilie gesocialized en een leuke signering in mijn boek weten te scoren. Altijd mooi meegenomen, toch?! Ik ben er in ieder geval erg blij mee haha.

Ik had wel gehoord van het boek, maar het niet gekocht of gelezen (ik probeer zo min mogelijk fysieke boeken meer te kopen. Eerlijk gezegd heb ik ook erg weinig tijd om te lezen … snik).
